‘Naruto’ Headed To The Big Screen Courtesy Of ‘Shang-Chi’ Director Destin Daniel Cretton

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) has signed on to write and direct the long-gestating live-action film adaptation of Naruto for Lionsgate Films.
The long-running manga series, created by Masashi Kishimoto, has spawned several animated shows, video games and countless merchandise tie-ins over the last 25 years or so. Lionsgate has been trying to make a film adaptation since 2015, and the Cretton news brings it closer to reality.
Cretton and his producing partner, Jeyun Munford, will join Arad Productions’ Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Emmy Yu to produce, while no casting news has been revealed yet.
After the success of Shang-Chi, Cretton signed an overall deal with Disney and Marvel in 2021 and is slated to direct a Shang-Chi sequel, as well as develop the Disney Plus series Wonder Man.
