Scenes From SXSW 2024: A Photo Gallery

Comicon.com had a blast at our first South by Southwest (SXSW) in person. There was plenty to do from activations, such as Fallout and Paramount+’s The Lodge ,to screenings and world premieres including I Saw the TV Glow and Star Trek: Discovery season five. But all that was only a small sample of what went on during the more-than-week-long event. In our gallery, we highlight some of the other things we experienced.
Audible also had an activation at SXSW. Visitors could enjoy the carnival theme while learning more about its library of audiobooks and podcasts. There were midway games to play, fair food to snack on, and even a ferris wheel to ride.
One of the headliners was the upcoming series 3 Body Problem. Ahead of the world premiere there was a 3D visual experience projected over the Austin skyline. The cast and creators even stopped by to watch the presentation with the fans. And of course, after the screening they rallied the audience into taking a photo modeling replica VR headsets that are found in the show.
3 Body Problem wasn’t the only screening we attended. We watched the world premiere of Hacks third season along with the world premiere of the comedy Babes, another SXSW headliner.
We even took some time out for video games. The eMLS Cup was once again held during SXSW. The best EA Sports FC 24 players in North America battled it out to win the prestigious tournament and earn a ticket to the EA Sports FC Pro World Championship. There was even a live performance from La Durga de Austin, the supporters section band for Austin FC. When it was all said and done, João Afonso “JAFONSO” Vasconcelos came out victorious.
You can’t have a conference without having panels. There were numerous talks on a variety of subjects, but one of our favorites: All Elite Wrestling’s “Disrupting the Long-Monopolized Pro Wrestling Industry.”
Overall, what a fun conference and festival to attend. Here’s hoping we can do SXSW again next year.
