José Luis García-López’s 1982 ‘DC Comics Style Guide’ To Feature On Variant Covers This July

Legendary artist José Luis García-López designed an in-house document, the DC Comics Style Guide in 1982 and now, over forty years later, it’s to be used as the basis for a slew of variant covers adorning DC comic books this July. The guide was designed as an in-house bible to ensure a consistent look and characterization for DC’s Super Heroes whether they appeared on comics, animated series, action figures, toys, clothes, lunch boxes, trading cards, sticker books, and more. Shared internally at the time as a three-ring binder it has gained legendary status amongst fans and creators alike.

And in July, key inclusions in the original DC Comics Style Guide will be featured for the first time on a set of Artist Spotlight variant covers honoring José Luis García-López! Check out the variant covers for Batman #150, Green Arrow #14, Green Lantern #13, Shazam! #13, Superman #16, The Flash #11 and Wonder Woman #11 above.
