TMNT’s Co-Creator Kevin Eastman’s ‘Drawing Blood’ #1 Sets A Second Printing

by Olly MacNamee

Cowabunga, dude! Kevin Eastman (co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), David Avallone (writer on Elvira, Batwheels) Ben Bishop (artist on The Aggregate, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin), and Troy Little (Rick and Morty, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) have a hit on their hands. This week saw the release of Drawing Blood #1 from Image Comics and it’s already sold out at the distribution level. So, it gets a second printing.

“When you create a global franchise before you turn twenty…what happens next? In Drawing Blood, readers follow the jaw-dropping journey of Shane Bookman—a cartoonist whose real life has become more absurd and action-packed than any comic book story he could dream up!

Once upon a time, Bookman co-created The Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls: a gritty, funny indie comic that became a billion dollar global franchise. Now, years later, the partnership dissolved, the corporate buy-out all spent, Books is struggling to rekindle the will to create something new again… Until a plot twist has him scrambling to scrape together enough cash to pay off Lithuanian mobsters!”

Here are some of the creators’ reactions to the news:

“We’re thrilled with the early response to Drawing Blood. The enthusiasm from the fans: this comic is very personal to all of us who work on it, and we can’t wait for everyone to read it.” – David Avallone

“This book is and always has been an incredibly personal labor of love for all of us and I know people are going to see and feel that as they get deeper and deeper into this story. I’m so glad to hear it sold out. Truly amazing. Thank you.” – Ben Bishop

Drawing Blood #1 second printing is out on Wednesday, May 29th from Image Comics.
