‘My Deer Friend Nokotan’ Looks Like Peak Weird Anime

Girl meets elk-girl—and chaos ensues!
No one knows Torako used to be a delinquent. All of her classmates only know her as the perfect student. But everything changes when Nokotan, a transfer student with antlers, enters her life. Antlers aren’t the only thing strange about Nokotan. Her deer nose can sniff out Torako’s secret past! Whether it’s at school or the zoo, chaos follows this doe-eyed girl’s every step. Torako has so many questions! Is Nokotan a deer, a girl, or something in-between?
Anime is an acquired taste. While most casual audience members can find something they like within a Studio Ghibli movie or a Shonen series, there’s another side to anime that’s a little … weirder.
Such is the case with My Deer Friend Nokotan– which looks like it was designed to outshine every other anime in terms of being bizarre. The trailer gave me similar vibes to Gabriel Dropout and Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. Both of those series were hilarious and charming so I’ll be checking out My Deer Friend Nokotan when it debuts!
