Advance Preview: Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave! — ‘Nemesis The Warlock: The Definitive Edition Volume 3’ Out March 2025

More epic reprinting from 2000 AD now, as their Definitive Nemesis Editions reaches Volume 3 with Pat Mills, Bryan Talbot, and Kevin O’Neill bringing the cutting edge…

2000 AD are not hanging about with these Nemesis reprints are they? Volume 2 comes out in September and here we are with the announcement of Volume 3, really pushing on into the whole saga of one of the finest of 2000 AD‘s characters. It would appear we’re going to be getting, at a minimum, one a year, with Volume 1 released December 2023, Volume 2 out 25 September, and this third Volume out 26 March. So, getting quicker as they go through the series!

This is a very, very good thing, because not only is Nemesis one of the greatest of 2000 AD‘s incredible library of stories and characters, but this looks to be an absolutely epic re-formatting of the collection.

For a start, the Definitive Editions series will collect everything, the entire series, in order, beautifully reproduced and restored pages with new scans, including the full-colour centre-spread pages finally printed the way they were meant to be seen. But each volume is also available in both paperback and a rather gorgeous hardcover designed by Gemma Sheldrake. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s a damn big series too – each volume is published in large-format size of 307 x 231mm. So many great reasons to get this one, although the best reason is still because it’s just one of the finest, strangest, anti-establishment, totally out there and wonderfully so series.

The only real downside to all of this is that it just means people like me (and maybe you) now have yet another format of Nemesis on our shelves!

Created by Pat Mills and Kevin O’Neill, Nemesis the Warlock is the alien freedom fighter, locked in battle with the diabolical Torquemada, ruler of the human empire based on Termight. All Torquemada wants to do is keep humanity pure, vanquish and kill all deviants, with the rallying cry of Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave! All Nemesis wants to do is be an anarchistic thorn in his side, the freedom fighter who we’re never really sure what he’s fighting for.

This third volume takes us into Books 5 and 6 of the series, finishing off Bryan Talbot‘s run on the series and bringing Kev O’Neill back for the Torquemada the God storyline.

It’s 10 years after after Torquemada’s death in The Gothic Empire, and Nemesis’s bloodthirsty son Thoth brings an earlier version of the mad tyrant through time just to punish him for his mother’s murder. So, let battle recommence, as the ABC Warriors join in with a madcap adventure across the time wastes.
