.
One of the crown jewels in 2000 AD’s extensive library, Wagner and Ranson’s Button Man is an action-packed thriller following military veteran Harry Ex, whose return to England comes with an invite to the world of a secret underground society where the country’s richest men pay professional killers to take part in combat as a Button Man.
It’s a taut thriller where Brit comics and art legend Arthur Ranson really did get to produce some of his long career’s finest work, alongside working with Alan Grant of some of the finest Judge Anderson stories of course.
Well, now Button Man and all its incredible Ranson artwork becomes the latest of 2000 AD’s Apex Editions, the sort of ridiculously oversized editions, printed at the same size as the original artwork, that have already featured artists including Mick McMahon, Steve Dillon, Kevin O’Neill, and Brian Bolland.

The Button Man by Arthur Ranson Apex Edition will be released in December 2024 in standard edition available everywhere and a 2000 AD webshop exclusive slipcase edition, including a signed by Ranson tip-in sheet featuring the cover art for 2000 AD Prog 789. It’s 192 pages of beautiful artwork at the original art size (which interestingly is smaller than the previous Apex Editions at 36.1 x 27.6cm / 14 x 10″ as opposed to the previous 47.5 x 36.5cm / 19 x 14″), all scanned straight from Arthur Ranson’s art.
