Horror Is The Name Of The Game With Storm King’s John Carpenter Anthologies

If there is one name that is synonymous with the word Halloween, John Carpenter would undoubtedly top any given list. This spooky holiday season finds the legendary creator celebrated in comic book form.
Storm King Comics has announced two brand new graphic novels full of fearful stories: John Carpenter’s Tales for a HalloweeNight Vol. 10 and John Carpenter’s Tales for a HalloweeNight – Brooklyn Stories: A Frank Tieri and Cat Staggs Collection. They arrive in September and help celebrate ten years of John Carpenter’s Tales for a HalloweeNight stories.
Storm King Comics founder and editor Sandy King said that “while the myriad of stories in these two graphic-novel anthologies are wonderfully varied and eclectic, they all share the unique vibe that makes them worth of the Carpenter name.”
John Carpenter’s Tales for a HalloweenNight Vol. 10 features an original story, called “SOS,” from Carpenter himself. Alongside that story will be 12 all-new stories that continue the legacy of the anthology series, featuring the work of more than 30 writers, artists, and colorists from comics today.
That list includes names like Duane Swierczynski, Mike Sizemore, Valerio Alloro, Gigi Baldassini, Jennie Wood, Amanda Deibert, Elena Carrillo, Jason Shawn Alexander, Tieri, Staggs, King, and Carpenter himself among many, many others.
Having contributed to the anthology for more than seven years, Tieri and Staggs are seeing their stories (full of monsters, vampires, ghosts, and other horror beings in the streets of Brooklyn) compiled into one volume. Brooklyn Stories: A Frank Tieri and Cat Staggs Collection features an introduction from Carpenter and includes a brand-new story from Tieri and Staggs that weaves through the whole collection.
“Between these two unique books, every fan of horror will find something to disturb and delight them,” King said. “Tis is the time of year to remember that fear is one of our most basic emotions, it fills every day of our lives, and can be a strong motivator to explore our darker sides.”
Both volumes will arrive in comic shops and Storm King Comics website on September 25th before also arriving at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and local bookstores on October 8th.
