UniVersus Goes “Beyond, Plus Ultra” With ‘Jet Burn’ CCG Set!

When My Hero Academia dropped, I was all in from the very first episode. In the hero-heavy landscape of comics that I come from, I have, for the majority of my life, really disliked the big heroes. Sure I love Batman, but he is a weirdo who dresses as a bat and fights crime with money and DIY rope launches. Super Man, Captain America, and those big smile “truth and justice” kinds of iconic heroes just felt cheesy to me.
Enter All Might. This grinning goofball is the most heroic hero that I have ever seen in the hero space. His message that we can all be great and must do our best to help our fellow man feels so “Brave and Bold” that logically I assumed it would make me sick.
In truth, the goofy guy with the wild eyebrows made me want to Go Beyond… Plus Ultra. There was just something so honest and true about him that I became an instant fan of the series and currently own quite a bit of All Might merch. So it should come as no surprise when my pals at UniVersus sent me a box of their My Hero Academia Jet Burn cards I was thrilled to check them out.
The Jet Burn set has 150 new cards and features 17 new characters to build decks around, including fan favorites Hawks and Hood, as well as a new version of the hero Endeavor. the introduction of Hawks and Hood as well as a new version of Endeavor.
Each of the randomly assorted booster pack contains 1 character card, 6 commons, 3 uncommons, and one of the following: Foil Rare, Foil Ultra Rare, or Foil Secret Rare. The card art is brilliantly done and the special chase cards are epic to behold.
There are 6 different Secret Rares to add to the collectability and the new frame treatments for this set showcase more of the art so you really get to drink it all in on the main cards and the chase cards.
Fans of the My Hero series will want to grab these not just for the play aspect but also because they are some of the cooler collectables I have seen in the space and they really do the characters justice.
