Todd Nauck Creates New Iconic Marvel Comics 2025 Variants

by Tony Thornley

Starting in January, one of Marvel’s more popular stalwart artists brings his distinct style to new iconic images of our favorite heroes.

Artist Todd Nauck has been a part of the Marvel Universe for decades, drawing practically character in Marvel’s pantheon. Just this week, he wrapped up his run as one of the regular fill-in artists on Amazing Spider-Man. Starting in January and running all through the year, Nauck will create new covers featuring Marvel icons, inspired by the iconic Todd MacFarlane Amazing Spider-Man #301 cover.

“This cover series came about after I did an Amazing Spider-Man #301 Todd McFarlane homage retailer variant cover for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25,” Nauck explained. “Marvel then approached me about doing this Iconic series. Similar to that cover, we’d have a character on a white background and the circle element behind them. However, rather than homaging each character in McFarlane’s classic Spider-Man pose, I was invited to come up with a new iconic pose for each character based on their body type, power set, and personality. I have really enjoyed delving into each character and coming up with something cool for each of their covers.”

The covers remind me of some of the late George Perez’s Marvel pin-ups. The publisher recently concluded a series of variants featuring those pieces, paying tribute to the late artist’s vast contributions to the Marvel Universe.
