‘Stranger Things’ Honors November 6 With A Season 5 Title Tease Trailer

In the fictional reality of Stranger Things, November 6th, 1983 is a key day in history. That evening, after playing a session of Dungeons & Dragons with friends, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing. His disappearance from Hawkins, Indiana — and the arrival of a mysterious girl known as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) — would soon unleash a torrent of government secrets and extra-natural beings from a place known as the Upside Down. Netflix has adopted the date as a sort of Stranger Things day and, this year, they’ve chosen it to begin the push to the final season.
Set in 1987, the gang is older and potentially wiser, but the final conflict with the Upside Down looms on the horizon; a great storm of inter-dimensional proportions. And if the episode titles in the video above are any indication, it will all lead to “The Rightside Up” and at least one more vanishing.
If it isn’t obvious, we enjoy Stranger Things a great deal around here as it covers so much Comicon ground — from D&D to secret organization to telekinesis and our unwillingness to let 1980s media go. It’ll be interesting to see if the series, originally meant to be an anthology, can bring all of its threads together for a satisfying conclusion. Also, it’ll be interesting if the characters can put their ’80s aesthetics and touchstones away to embrace a new decade. Yeah, 1987 is still the ’80s — just look at the way synthesizers proliferated into the music of that year — but the future of the 1990s has to be on the kids’ minds already. And boy, what a decade for them to live through even if they defeat Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and survive with no further loss of life.
But will life ever be mundane for the Hawkins, kids?
We’ll find out when Stranger Things returns for its fifth and final season in 2025.
