McFarlane Toys Classic Batman Nominated As The Toy Foundation Announces Toy Of The Year Finalists

When I was a kid, there always seemed to be old episodes of the Adam West Batman show on. It was typically paired with reruns of M.A.S.H. or Gilligan’s Island, and to this day, I don’t know if there was any continuity or order to the series. What I do know is that for the 30 minutes it was on, the flashing colors, wacky dances, and uses of the phrase “holy” were pretty stellar to a child of less than ten.
So in the spirit of the classic “Biff”, “Bam”, “Zoom”, and such … behold! The Toy Foundation announced its finalists for their Toy of the Year awards recently. McFarlane Toys was honored with an Action Figure of the Year nomination. The figure in question is, of course, the DC Multiverse Batman (Batman: Classic TV Series) 7′ Action Figure.
The winners of each category, along with the coveted overall Toy of the Year and People’s Choice awards (the latter based entirely on consumer votes), will be revealed at the Toy of the Year Awards gala on Friday, February 28th, 2025, at Cipriani 42nd Street in NYC. This event kicks off Toy Fair 2025 (March 1-4) and will also include the induction of seven industry pioneers into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame.
All proceeds from the event, including Toy of the Year nomination fees, will benefit The Toy Foundation’s programs, like the Children’s Hospital Play Grants, which bring play to children in hospitals, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative, focused on expanding play access to all communities. The Toy of the Year nomination fees will also benefit The Toy Bank program, which distributes toys to children in need worldwide.
“This year’s TOTY finalists exemplify our industry’s talent for delivering joy, encouraging exploration, and enhancing learning through the power of play,” said Pam Mastrota, executive director of The Toy Foundation. “We are proud to not only celebrate these innovative playthings but also the philanthropic impact fundraising for the TOTY Awards celebration will have in supporting the physical and emotional well-being of children in need around the world. We invite everyone to have a say in the next TOTY winners and cast their votes!”
Winners will be determined by votes from Toy Association winners, media, retailers, and consumers. The voting window closes at midnight on Friday, January 10th, 2025, and winners will be announced at the Toy of the Year Awards on February 28th.
