Trailer Watch: ‘One Hundred Years Of Solitude’ Part 1 Arrives On Neflix December 11
by Tito W. James
Written by Gabriel García Márquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a seminal work of magical realism. The book is the story of the Buendía family, tormented by madness, impossible love, war, and the fear of a curse that condemns them to solitude for a hundred years in the mythical town of Macondo.
The book is one of the most important in world literature. However, many contemporary Western audiences haven’t even heard of Gabriel García Márquez or read his work. Currently we’re in an entertainment landscape where even casual audiences are more open to fantastic genre fiction with a compelling drama at its core. It remains to be seen if new audiences will embrace this unique story.
One Hundred Years of Solitude will be streaming on Netflix December 11th.
