Keanu Reeves’ ‘Constantine’ Celebrates 20th Anniversary With 4K Ultra HD And Blu-ray

Return to a simpler time … an era of comicbook movies before the Marvel Cinametic Universe, the Snyderverse, and James Gunn‘s upcoming slate of DC movies insisted on connecting everything to an endless mega-franchise. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the supernatural DC Comics adaptation Constantine will be available for purchase digitally in 4K Ultra HD and on 4K UHD Blu-ray in February.
The 2005 film was Hollywood’s first attempt at adapting the DC/Vertigo character first introduced in the pages of Alan Moore‘s Swamp Thing before leading his own series Hellblazer. Keanu Reeves, hot off the heels of The Matrix trilogy, plays the cynical John Constantine who has intimate connections to the supernatural world and to Hell itself. When a skeptical policewoman’s (Rachel Weisz) twin sister commits suicide under mysterious circumstances, she enlists Constantine’s help to find the truth and to navigate the world of angels, demons, and monsters that exists just beyond the surface of our world.
Directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, The Hunger Games), Constantine also boasts a pretty wild supporting cast including Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, Peter Stormare, and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.
The 4K restoration of Constantine was sourced from the original camera negative, and overseen by Lawrence. Special features are a mix of old and new — including a new featurette called Two Decades of Damnation — audio commentaries, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and more.
Constantine will be available to purchase digitally in 4K Ultra HD and on 4K UHD Blu-ray disc starting February 18th.
