Breaking: Dynamite Reveals Mark Spears And Mark Bagley ‘SilverHawks’ #1 Covers Ahead Of FOC

It’s a good day for SilverHawks fans.
Ahead of the debut issue’s final order cutoff date, Dynamite has revealed the variant covers provided by artists Mark Spears and Mark Bagley. Although both were announced previously, art was not available until now. Spears delivers a truly awe-inspiring shot (above) of Quicksilver as he preps for battle (or flight). The way the flames glint off his seemingly liquid metal coverings is really awesome. Also, check out how much his one fleshy arm looks like a photograph. Just a stunningly good cover.
Bagley’s cover, below, presents a group shot of the Hawks. Although final colors are not yet available, the black-and-white version evokes a certain 1980s nostalgia. You could easily imagine this in a SilverHawks coloring book or even on the box art for the Maraj vehicle. It also suggests what a SilverHawks comic might’ve looked like at the time the original animated series was on the air.
Inside, writer Ed Brisson and artist George Kambadais deliver a new take on the Hawks’ early adventures. Now joined by Hotwing much sooner than he debuted on the cartoon, the Hawks make their way to the galaxy of Limbo following Mon*Star’s escape from prison. The cop who put him there, Stargazer, desperately needs a new team of space-worthy adventurers to quell the threat of the resurgent Limbo mob. Will Quicksilver, Steelheart, Steelwill, Bluegrass, Hotwing, and the Copper Kid be up to the task?
The series is another aspect of Dynamite’s partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Consumer Products. It is the second series to emerge from the Rankin-Bass dive into toy-driven action cartoons during the ’80s. We have to wonder if TigerSharks is soon to join it and ThunderCats on store shelves.
