The Maker’s Plan For The Ultimate Marvel Universe Becomes Clear On Free Comic Book Day 2025
by Tony Thornley
Nearly two years ago, the new Ultimate Marvel universe was born in Ultimate Invasion. This summer, one of the biggest pieces of that universe’s birth comes back into play.

In Ultimate Invasion from Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch, the Maker — the evil Reed Richards of Earth-1610 — used time travel to twist the history of another Earth to his designs. He eliminated most of the world’s heroes, prevented their origins or corrupted them. Before he left his temporary home on Earth-616, he visited Miles Morales and made him an offer.
Miles, also a refugee from Earth-1610, refused.
But Hickman seeded an important detail for the future in that moment. The Maker left Miles with what appeared to be a fake business card. On Free Comic Book Day 2025, that piece of the Maker’s plan will rear its ugly head again.
As a part of Marvel Comics’ Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe special, Deniz Camp, Cody Ziglar and Jonas Scharf revisit that moment. The solicitation states it’s just a teaser for an upcoming Ultimate Marvel event, but it’s more than “just” a teaser, especially with Miles Morales writer Ziglar co-writing the story with Camp.

By including Miles in this story, it’s clear that this is more than just another story for the Ultimate Universe. So what’s up with the card? I guess we’ll find out the first weekend of May!
