Hero Forge Launches Custom Dice Campaign On Kickstarter
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
When you run TTRPG as much as I have you, from time to time, find yourself in a situation where you need a mini that you can’t find anywhere regardless of how many pegs you have riffled through and shelves you have rummaged around in. When you are a penniless kid you end up making due with the small collection of minis from the communal tray in the back of the comic shop or you use dice and bits of paper to simulate the universe you are weaving at the table.
However, we live in the golden age of TTRPG so now you can go to Hero Forge and build your own min from the ground up — even going as far as selecting paint options and getting it sent right to your house in time for game day. So you never need to worry about your PC having the hammer that you dreamed of, or the lich wielding the correct color magic staff to really capture the moment you want to evoke at the table.
You can honestly spend hours, I say this first hand, just using the builder tools Hero Forge has in browser to make hundreds of mini designs really working out exactly how you want certain NPCs to look before you unleash them upon your table.

If custom minis was not already more than enough to solidify Hero Forge as a must use resource in the TTRPG space, the talented team of makers on their team are now getting into the dice making game.
Following the Hero Forge mission of seeing everyone at the table being able to craft gaming accessories that fit their specific style, the company wants players and storytellers to be able to make dice that capture the vibes of their character and meaningful moments in their game as well.

With their new Dice Maker, you’ll be able to design a character in their Hero Forge online building tool, and then seamlessly transform it into a custom die, all within the comfort of your web browser. These are not just D20s either, you can put a potion bottle in a D6, or a spell inside a D4, there is a ton of possibility in how you can build out your own unique set of dice ready to roll exactly how you see fit.
They won’t ensure you slay the manticore or best the beholder, mind you, that is still up to your rolls and the dice to tell that story. But regardless if you catch a ray of disintegration or not, at least the dice will look rad while you are doing it.

Five years ago, Hero Forge — with the support of their fans and Kickstarter — were able to bring 3D color printed minis to life. So it makes total sense they are going to use the same platform to bring this new dice innovative initiative to the table.

This new system will allow you to insert any item found or crafted from the Hero Forge library inside polyhedral dice. The tool will also allow the use of the same color printing process so they will be as vibrant and eye catching as the minis you have been making. You will even be able to customize the numerals on the dice by resizing and recoloring the numbers to get the exact look you are seeking. From everything I have seen, the the dice maker is going to give you almost total creative control to design the dice of your dreams.
The Kickstarter is launching today at this link.
