ICYMI: Konami Announces ‘Suikoden II’ Anime And A New Mobile Game

by Sage Ashford

During Konami’s recent Suikoden stream to talk about the recently-released Suikoden I&II HD Remasters, they also spoke about some of the “next steps” for the Suikoden franchise. Among them included an anime adaptation of Suikoden II, entitled Suikoden: The Anime, and a new mobile title, Suikoden: STAR LEAP.

Suikoden: The Anime is coming from Konami Animation, and will mark their first attempt at making an anime. Meanwhile, the director is YUZO and the producer is Ryo Hino. The project is early enough that they’re still writing the main story, so it’ll likely be a while before we see anything else from it.

Also revealed during the Suikoden live show was a new game for mobile, Suikoden STAR LEAP. Meant to get new fans into the franchise, this new title takes place just before Suikoden I in the timeline.  Their website already has more information about STAR LEAP‘s story:

The Rune of Change is one of the 27 True Runes that are said to have created the world.

The story begins just east to the giant Scarlet Moon Empire, at a village located on the shore of a lake. One night, our hero, the village chief Hou’s son, comes back home successful from his first hunt. The village is filled with celebration and brimming with hope for the coming days, but an assault is launched, and the fate of the village is changed in an instant.

Our hero, along with Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur, embarks on a journey to restore peace to the village.

In the midst of the great whirlpool of destiny, the Hero’s small adventure turns into a large ambition,

For our precious one.

Suikoden STAR LEAP is currently scheduled for release on iOS and Android, though there’s no scheduled release date.
