Spugna is one of the most twisted artists working in Underground Comix. His work draws on everything from body horror to Courage the Cowardly Dog. Spugna’s latest comic, Fat Rot Things, is like a banned Spongebob episode filled with murder, mayhem, and stomach-churning nastiness. I greatly enjoyed Spugna’s previous comix, The Rust Kingdom and Fingerless– and Fate Rot Things didn’t disappoint. It’s a comic thats revels in dark jokes and bizarre character designs. Spugna’s work spits in the face of convention while also delivering solid sequential art formalism. So if you want something really out there I’d recommend diving into Spugna’s work.
