ThunderCats continues to be on the move — be it in single issue or trade collections.
Dynamite announced Friday the August release of ThunderCats: Vol. 3 — Apex. This one reprints ThunderCats #11-15 of the series by Declan Shalvey and Drew Moss (with Joe Mulvey for a portion of the adventure). The third major story sees Lion-O embarking on a mission to Mumm-Ra’s Black Pyramid in the hopes of defeating the ancient spirits of evil. In the balance: control of Third Earth. But in the aftermath, Lion-O is separated from the other ‘Cats, forcing them into “two separate battles across two different worlds.” The 128-page Vol. 3 will be available in both softcover and hardcover with covers by Shalvey and Lucio Parrillo on the respective editions.
“This third arc on Third Earth is the apex (pun intended) of my original plans for when I took on ThunderCats as a comic book series,” Shalvey said in a statement. “Where, with all the groundwork laid down, myself and artist Drew Moss could truly build to an epic climax and establish who the ThunderCats really were. Due to the tremendous support the series has received, this arc has also given us an extra opportunity … to build a springboard for new ideas and more ambitious storytelling. I’m so excited to see what comes next.”
ThunderCats: Vol. 3 — Apex lands in comic shops this August from Dynamite.
