Dynamic Forces’s first Kickstarter campaign takes its inspiration directly from the Papacy.
The company announced Thursday a crowdfunding campaign dedicated to the recently ordained Pope Leo XIV, celebrating the ascendancy of the first-ever American pope via a limited edition Collector’s Trading Card Set. Company founder Nick Barrucci always credits Marvel Comics’ 1982 The Life of Pope John Paul II as the beginning of his comics and collectibles career. The serendipity of an American pope who went to nearby Villanova University in Philadelphia is not lost on Barrucci or the company.
The card set will feature “official photography and beautiful artist renditions” of the new Pontiff. Each individual pack will include 10 cards. Boxes containing 24 packs will also be on offer. The set as a whole consists of “54 base cards, 54 rainbow holofoil parallel cards, 27 metal cards, a 9-card puzzle set, 9 special art cards, 9 line art cards, foil chase cards, a 54 mini-card subset, and more.” The set will also include “truly one-of-one sketch cards from the elite roster of worldwide artists working with Dynamic Forces.” Other options in the Kickstarter campaign include uncut sheets and other reward tiers and add-ons. And one backer of the campaign will get the chance to own Jae Lee‘s original hand-drawn art of Pope Leo made specifically for the card set.
