Adult Animation Revolution: ‘Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye’ Up On The Big Screen

Dan Da Dan has easily become my new obsession. Ever since I fell in love with the manga, I’ve eagerly devoured each tankobon volume when it released. Studio Science Saru has done a superb job at adapting this singular series with style. I had the pleasure of seeing Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye up on the big screen and I’d highly recommend other fans treat themselves. The action set-pieces and sound-design feel completely different when seen in a theater. Seeing Okarun battle the Evil Eye was more exciting than most of the superhero films we’ve seen of late. The GKids theatrical screening also offers an exclusive interview with series co-directors Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Gongora. They do a great job at taking creative liberties with the pacing and presentation while also remaining true to the source material.
