Check Out All Three Versions Of Joe Madureira’s ‘X-Men Of Apocalypse Alpha’ #1 Cover

He visually redefined comics for a generation. In September, he returns to the universe that made him famous as X-Men Of Apocalypse celebrates the Age of Apocalypse’s thirtieth anniversary.
Joe Madureira helped the industry embrace bombastic manga style cartooning in the 1990’s. He was also one of the key designers in Marvel’s Age of Apocalypse. Starting with X-Men Of Apocalypse Alpha #1, Madureira returns to that universe for variant covers each issue.
Written by comics legends Jeph Loeb and drawn by Simone Dimeo, the limited series finds a specialized team of the Age of Apocalypse X-Men being sent to Earth 616 on a quest to find the only way to stop the end of their world.
Madureira’s return to the Age of Apocalypse will feature on each issue a variant from him, and in the debut it appears that that cover will have three distinct versions.
“I am beyond excited to be dipping back into this corner of the X-Men universe,” Madureira said. “I was literally a kid when I drew the Astonishing X-Men—it feels like several lifetimes ago, and I want to bring something new to these characters on my covers. Hopefully I can do justice to Simone’s incredible, explosive pages!”
