Can ‘Battlefield 6’ Revive The Battlefield Franchise?
by Sage Ashford
After months of being one of the worst kept secrets, Electronic Arts has shown off their reveal trailer for Battlefield 6. Though there are some gameplay snippers, the trailer is largely focused on narrative, with the President of the United States addressing both America and the world after an attack on American soil.
According to Electronic Arts, this time the villains are Pax Armata, a PMC that’s been bankrolled by ex-NATO states who’ve made an attack on America. This is meant to set up both the game’s multiplayer and its single-player campaign, returning after being missing in Battlefield 2042.
Though there are examples of gameplay out there online, Electronic Arts’ official gameplay segment will come this Thursday with a multiplayer reveal happening from multiple streams around the world. This larger showcase will feature both new maps and information on modes.
Yet the larger question is still will this finally be enough to bring Battlefield back to prominence as a franchise? While the series was never quite as popular as Call of Duty, it’s also far from its own franchise highs from the days of Battlefield 4. Either way, fans will get to learn more about the game on July 31st.
Battlefield 6 is releasing for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
