Paulina Ganucheau And Theo Stultz Take The Reins Of Disney’s ‘Maleficent’

The Queen of the Forbidden Mountain is back.

Dynamite announced Tuesday the return of Disney Villains: Maleficent with a new creative team following the original book’s Soo Lee. This time, writer Paulina Ganucheau and artist Theo Stultz reveals what happens during the time after Maleficent pronounces her curse on Aurora. Though it was successful, the Queen can never have too much power, so she sets out to reinforce her arsenal. A grimoire plundered by her goblins beckons her with a promise of power and the obvious glowing signs of immense energy. To secure all it offers, though, she must travel from her domain to a “unfamiliar and dangerous realm — from which few have ever returned in one piece.”

“Maleficent is a top-tier (if not the all-around best) Disney Villain,” Ganucheau said in a statement. “She feels so authentically evil in all her pursuits. With roots in medieval mythology and dark magic, she’s just so iconic. As a longtime fan, it’s truly an honor to creatively contribute to her cultural stamp.
