Marvel Debuts InHyuk Lee ‘Street-Verse’ Variant Covers
by Tony Thornley
Three years ago, Marvel cover artist InHyuk Lee debuted a poster depicting the key heroes of the Spider-Verse in streetwear looks. Now, Marvel has announced the artist will illustrate a full series of variant covers with the same concept for the ENTIRE Marvel Universe.
We’re here for this.

I personally adored Lee’s original designs, inspired by Miles Morales’ movie look of a jacket and shorts over his costume. Lee expanded on that concept, giving Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Cindy Moon, Jessica Drew, Felicia Hardy, Peter Porker, Kaine Parker, Ben Reilly, Venom, Carnage and Anti-Venom all their own streetwear looks.
With this project, Lee has created 20 unique looks for the entire Marvel Universe- from new designs for Peter, Miles, Felicia and the symbiotes, to non Spider-Men like T’Challa, Steve Rogers, Kwannon, Illyanna Rasputin and even Doctor Doom. They’ll grace the covers of all of Marvel’s flagship series, including a Hulk cover for a series that has not yet been announced. My personal favorites are Jen Walters, Illyanna, and the new Carnage design (and it’s tough to beat Lee’s original guns-out vest look for Carnage).
“I was honored to create the Street-Verse Variant Covers for Marvel,” Lee shared. “I started my career as a character designer at a game company 20 years ago, so I’m familiar with and enjoy designing characters and I’m interested in modern and practical design, so I was always drawn to techwear. Since the winter of 2021, I’ve been working on a personal project redesigning Spider-Man characters’ costumes in a modernized way. I’ve called it ‘Who is next?’ Marvel saw the series and approached me with this cover and mural project.”
“This marks my 13th year working with Marvel,” he continued. “They’ve always known what I do best and have given me suggestions based on what I excel at. It’s a pleasure to work with Marvel, who recognize my strengths. I hope many people will enjoy these covers.”
Check out all twenty covers above and watch for your favorites all through November from Marvel Comics.
