If you enjoyed the new Superman film, many people are going to recommend that you read All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison. Those who have been eyes deep in comics for over a decade know that Grant Morrison is one of the most unique iconoclasts to ever work in mainstream comics. Morrison is infamous for experimenting with psychedelics, Chaos Magick, and turning the medium of comics inside out. The documentary, Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods had a profound effect on my creative process much like Jodorowsky‘s Dune.
Morrison’s creative journey speaks deeply to young people who feel out of place and are trying to find their way. Not all paths to enlightenment are clear or traditional. Morrison’s story proves that creativity can be found even in cat crap; we can turn our pain into art that inspires, and perhaps ascend into our final form as blobs of alien mirror matter. Grant Morrison Talking With Gods is a rite of passage for comic enthusiasts and college students and preferably in an altered state.
