The Circle of Life continues.
Dynamite announced Tuesday the November debut of their The Lion King comic book from writer and artist Edwin Galmon. Set when Simba was still young and Mufasa was, unquestionably, the king, father and son must “navigate the complex web of relationships across their vast kingdom” while Mufasa teaches Simba how to defend their kingdom and all who live there. But is Scar out there in the distance? Either way, expect some familiar faces and new characters as the epic unfolds.
“Having the honor and opportunity to work with the regal The Lion King franchise is a humbling experience. This is where my childhood imagination meets my adulthood craftsmanship and with excitement, I hope people really enjoy the story we have cooked up!,” Galmon said in a statement. “As a kid my favorite parts of The Lion King movie were all the scenes featuring Mufasa and Simba together because I related to how much I love and respect my dad. With that in mind, I wanted to have more father-son bonding, loving guidance, goofy playtimes and mentorship themes for Simba to enjoy with his dad.”
Supporting the series are covers from Galmon, Meghan Hetrick, Jacob Edgar, and Giulia Lomurno.
The Lion King #1 is due in shops this November.
