Marvel Comics Gives Fans A Chance To Get Original Sketch Cover Art In ‘Ultimate Endgame’

by Tony Thornley

January’s Ultimate Endgame promises to be Marvel Comics’ biggest event in years. Marvel is making it even bigger with its blind bag variant program.

Blind bag variant covers are starting to become a trend within the comics industry. They were huge for DC Comics’ recent Batman #1, and Ultimate Endgame is Marvel’s first foray. Aside from exclusive and rare variants, Marvel Comics is excited to reveal that there’s a chance of the Blind Bags containing official, one-of-a-kind original artist sketch variant covers by various surprise artists.

These original sketches will come signed by the artist and spotlight some of the Ultimate Universe’s most popular characters. The artists contributing sketches include acclaimed superstars like Leinil Francis, Peach Momoko, Mark Bagley, Ron Lim, Pepe Larraz and many more.

Written by Ultimates scribe Deniz Camp and drawn by superstar artists Jonas Scharf and Terry Dodson, Ultimate Endgame delivers the ultimate payoff to the epic narrative that Jonathan Hickman began over two years ago in Ultimate Invasion. The Maker, creator of Earth-6160, finally returns and confronts the heroes who have brought hope and freedom to a universe he once held in his tight grip! The fate of this world — and its future storytelling — will be decided in a showstopping, multi-front conflict with the Maker and his powerful allies.

Two (thousand) years have passed in the Ultimate Universe, but inside the City, the Maker has had thousands of years to prepare for his return! With the barrier around the City finally gone, heroes all across the Ultimate Universe must mobilize to defeat the Maker before it’s game over. For everyone. Meanwhile, the rest of the world wages World War III…

Check out the first revealed original art, and watch for Ultimate Endgame on December 31st from Marvel Comics.
