TRUMP’S WORLD… OH, BOY…
Well, the US had a month. Trump had a month. We had the assasination of Charlie Kirk, right-wing political activist. And then we had the fallout from that in an increasingly divided nation where the left hates the right and the right hates the left. And instead of a President calming the fires, we have Trump. He’s gone after free speech, gone after the left and what he sees as their political violence, whilst ignoring the right’s political violence. Then he went to the UN and gave one of those speeches. Let’s start with that…

The Kimmel thing…
After rather mild comments on the killing of Charlie Kirk, ABC pulled the show, only to bring it back a couple of weeks later, due to pressure from the FCC, whose chair seriously implied that he would look at yanking licences from ABC and Disney. It spiralled into something bigger, many seeing it as an example of an increasingly authoritarian attack on free speech and Trump clamping down on those who cross him…
Martin Rowson on the return of Kimmel…

The cause of autism was found… yeah, right…
Well, Trump and RFK JR had been promising they’d announce they’d found the cause of autism by September. Turns out it was Tylenol in pregnancy all along. I mean, who cares that scientific studies don’t back that up?

IN THE NOT SO UNITED KINGDOM…
It’s been rather a time for the far right in Britain as well, with Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party riding high in the polls, the cross of St George popping up everywhere and mobs of screaming bald-headed men draped in the flag demanding immigrants out, claiming they’re standing up for women and children (when a lot of those arrested in like protests – 2 in 5 in fact – have been previously reported for domestic violence).

Of course, the current Labour government continued limping along, with everything Keir Starmer touches turning into a disaster. First the Labour deputy leader, Angela Rayner, had to resign over breaking ministerial rules, then the US Ambassador to the USA, Peter Mandelson, having to be removed over links to Jeffrey Epstein. Meanwhile, Starmer and Labour limp along, every policy seemingly worse than the last…
