The Great Dictator is an anti-war film starring comedian Charlie Chaplain. Recently Turner Classic Movies posted Chaplain’s famous speech from the climax of the film. The Great Dictator came out in 1940, and every word still rings true 85 years later in 2025. We face many of the same challenges of greed, hatred, and fearmongering. Fortunately, we are not alone in our struggles and Art can act as a powerful tool against oppression. If you haven’t seen the full film, The Great Dictator is well worth your time.
