Rogue Trooper: Blighty Valley, by Garth Ennis and Patrick Goddard was a sure fire success for 2000 AD and for Rogue Trooper‘s popularity too. And with a Duncan Jones helmed animated film currently in production, this lone soldier has never had so much of the spotlight shine upon him. It’s enough to make Judge Dredd jealous. If he was inclined to show any such emotion that is.

And now we get a well-timed standalone graphic novel from Ennis and Goddard delving deeper into the mythos of this popular 2000 AD stalwart. Rogue Trooper: When A G.I. Dies will comes as both a standard edition hardback featuring a cover by artist Trevor Hairsine as well as a webstore exclusive cover by Goddard. Or, if you’re feeling flush, you could opt for a special limited-edition sketch edition featuring an original sketches from Goddard in each book limited to fifty.

Here’s more on the plot, their follow up to Rogue Trooper: Blighty Valley:
“Nu Earth: an endless battleground between Nort and Souther forces — but Rogue Trooper is the sole survivor of the Genetic Infantry, and together with the bio-chipped “ghosts” of his dead comrades he hunts down the traitor who sold out his regiment.
Now, three years after the Quartz Zone Massacre which wiped out his platoon and stalled the Genetic Infantry programme, Rogue is drawn into a web of intrigue involving a genetic engineer’s attempts to kickstart the programme again, but with the bio-chips of the dead soldiers from the original massacre — with terrible consequences.”
