Kevin Smith’s ‘Dogma’ Resurrected On 4K UHD With Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Along For The Ride

Fitting for a film that examines lives in purgatory, Kevin Smith‘s 1999 supernatural comedy Dogma was in limbo for years, available only on old standard-def DVDs and VHS tapes, and absent from streaming due to ugly rights issues involving its disgraced and incarcerated producer, Harvey Weinstein. But hark! There is a light ahead: Dogma will be resurrected on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and digital platforms this December.
Mashing up some of the more obscure aspects of Old Testament Catholicism with some of Smith’s finest rapid-fire dirty jokes and endless pop culture references, Dogma depicts Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as a pair of fallen angels who have been trapped on Earth for centuries and think they’ve discovered a loophole to get back into heaven. The only catch is that they might destroy God and the entire universe in the process.
Dogma boasts one of the best ensembles casts of Smith’s career: George Carlin, Chris Rock, Alan Rickman, Linda Fiorentino, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Lee, Salma Hayek, Bud Cort, Alanis Morissette, and of course, Jason Mewes and Smith himself as Jay and Silent Bob.
The release will be packed with all the bells and whistles Smith’s films are known for, including an introduction from Smith, interviews, featurettes, a cast and crew Q&A, deleted scenes, trailers, Easter eggs, and a commentary with Smith, Affleck, Lee, Mewes, and others.
Dogma descends onto 4K UHD and Blu-ray on December 9th, just in time for Christmas.
