Kickstarting Comics: ‘SharKnife: Fight Machine’

From comic creator Corey Lewis (Gun Brain) comes a new Super Sentai-inspired superhero comic. SharKnife is a ninja superhero who defends the city of Coastalvania from Steamboat Chilly, a soulless AI determined to suck the creativity out of everything. Part colorful action adventure and part corporate satire, SharKnife: Fight Machine is a 52-page, full color comic that’s part 1 of a 2 part super-sized story!
I’m really digging this direct-to-customer Kickstarter model that’s been generating quirky stand-alone comics. Not every story needs to be a long-running series or a hardcover graphic novel to be an enjoyable reading experience. Comics like Gun Brain, Luigi Mode, and The Arachnid Enforcer give be the same “Overground” comix vibe as the original Mirage Studios era TMNT. I love these comics because they’re personal, creative, experimental, and most importantly, fun!
