Quick Review — ‘Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere’ Exposes The Worst of The Internet

Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere takes viewers into the lives of men who are reshaping and radicalizing young men’s ideas about masculinity and manhood. The most concerning aspect of the Manosphere: how influential it’s become in such a short amount of time — especially with kids and teens. The influencers are advertising heteronormative hedonism cloaked in “traditional values.” Their regressive rhetoric plays into humanity’s worst impulses.
The Manosphere and its many derivatives are one of the many reasons I’m glad I don’t use social media. While it’s easy to point and laugh at these pseudo-successful troglodytes, the toxicity of the Manosphere has disquieting parallels to the most unsavory aspects of geek culture. I commend Theroux for holding up a mirror to male insecurity and forcing viewers to confront what they see.
