Marvel Reveals A Trio Of Surprise ‘Daredevil’ #1 Blind Bag Artists
by Tony Thornley
Daredevil #1 hits stores today from Marvel Comics, the latest volume of Marvel’s most consistently good series of the last forty years. To hype readers even more for the release, the publisher has included it as the second release in the True Believers blind bag program, including exclusive variant covers, some with original art. And late last night Marvel revealed three of those artists.
Well, two of them aren’t really comics artists, but it’s reductive to say they aren’t artists though.
Mixed into the variants released today are original art from some of the biggest artists in comics. But with those comes covers from Frank Miller, the writer/artist who redefined Daredevil in the 1980s, and Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox and John Bernthal. In addition to that, several of the covers Cox signed includes exclusive art from Daredevil legend Alex Maleev.
Daredevil #1 features a fresh start that’s perfect for any Daredevil fan and coming just on the heels of the premiere of Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, now streaming on Disney+. The new comic book run sees Matt Murdock confront unprecedented challenges — both in his personal life as Matt Murdock and on the dangerous streets of Hell’s Kitchen as Daredevil. Matt will go back to school, taking on a new role as a law professor just as a new supervillain named Omen emerges with a mysterious vendetta against his super hero alter ego.
Check out examples of Miller, Cox, Maleev and Bernthal’s covers, and watch for Daredevil #1 in stores today from Marvel Comics.
