Dan Panosian And Andrey Lunatik Take Creative Lead On ‘Fire And Ice: Darkwolf’

Fire & Ice‘s Darkwolf is finally getting his lead in a series.

Dynamite announced Thursday the immanent arrival of Fire And Ice: Darkwolf, the next miniseries in the company’s ongoing exploration of the Fire and Ice universe first devised by artist Frank Frazetta and filmmaker Ralph Bakshi in the 1983 animated film. In this series, writer Dan Panosian and artist Andrey Lunatik put the spotlight on the mysterious masked barbarian.

Set before the events of the film — where Darkwolf comes to the aid of Larn and Teegra while addressing his own beef with the villainous Nekron — the tale will offer just a glimpse behind the mask. It starts when “a mother and her twins flee the warlock who sired them.” Although his soldiers are on the pursuit, it attracts the attention of Darkwolf, who finds helping the trio out is only the beginning.

“Darkwolf is pure Frank Frazetta in its most raw and unfiltered form,” Panosian said in a statement. “Wild, savage and let loose upon a world as terrifying as he is.”
