‘Dead As Disco’ Is The Most Stylish Gaming Has Looked In A While

by Sage Ashford

With countless games being released these days, it’s easy for a lot of them to blend together. That’s when something like Brain Jar Games’ Dead as Disco comes along to shake things up.

The game places players in the role of Charlie Disco, member of the legendary Dead as Disco band, who was killed over a decade ago. For one night however, Charlie’s allowed to have his revenge, which starts with him facing off with the chief suspects of his murder: his own bandmates. Fortunately, Charlie has the power of dance on his side.

No, literally — players are challenged to offer beatdowns to the beat of the music, with combos becoming more dangerous and looking cooler when they happen to the beat.

With the ability to add your own music to the game and fight to your own soundtrack, Dead as Disco has near-infinite potential. It could become a party game for the musically inclined, or a way for combo-loving players to merge their love of music with their love of gaming. There’s already a demo available on Steam, but the title enters early access on May 8th. Until then, check out this sick boss fight with one of Charlie’s former bandmates:
