Adult Animation Revolution: ‘Gnome Show’

Gnome Show is an animated indie series created by YouTube animator Cas van de Pol. It follows the misadventures of Willem, who lives in an idyllic enchanted forest close to the vice-fueled New Gnome City. There’s a lot of indie animation out there, but this one sets itself apart with its singular approach to comedy. Van de Pol has been making parody shorts for many years and his comedic sensibilities are on full display. I also really love how Gnome Show’s soundtrack evokes hints of classic Nintendo games.
The end of the episode teases the introduction of the show’s villain. Van de Pol promised that the series is primarily a comedy, but will explore dark fantasy elements in future episodes. Overall, it’s is a very strong addition to the current boom of indie animation. If you enjoyed the humor and artwork of Punch Punch Forever! then you’ll definitely love this one.
