Just The Specials ‘Star Wars’ Month Edition: Star Wars X Burger King ‘Mandalorian and Grogu’ Themed Menu

Just the Specials is where your old pal Anton dines and delights on the new, weird, and often wild menu items, food offerings, and branded collaborations that find their way onto the plate in front of him. It’s been absolutely flooding the social feeds, so you know I had to tuck into Burger King’s The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed menu.

So what I ended up getting was something they were calling the Bounty Bundle. Inside was an assortment of their Star Wars-themed offerings that Burger King had pulled together, along with a few cool little collectables to make the meal more memorable.

First up was the BQ Bounty Whopper. Now Burger King says this is a “flame-grilled ¼ lb. of 100% beef, served in a helmet-shaped carton inspired by the galaxy’s most legendary bounty hunter. Loaded with melty Swiss, crispy pickle chips, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and smothered in creamy Bounty BBQ Sauce.”

Now, I did not get lettuce on mine, but this BQ Bounty Whopper was one of the best fast-food burgers I have had in a while. The burger was cooked nicely, the crispy pickle chips need to be a regular thing on the everyday menu because they add just the right level of crunch, the tomato was fresh, and the Swiss with the creamy Bounty BBQ Sauce worked really well. I would eat this burger regularly.

Next up is the Grogu’s Blue Cookie Shake. Burger King says that this is a “hyperspace swirl of creamy soft serve blended with blue sugar cookie syrup and topped with Grogu’s favorite snack – blue cookies!”

I had a regular Oreo Shake from Burger King recently. It was way more flavorful than this themed offering. I’m not saying the shake was bad; it just had no depth. It kinda tasted like vanilla soft serve with a few of the crumbs from the bottom of an animal cracker box mixed in. It was fine, but nothing to write home about.

The Imperial Cheddar Ranch Tots were next. Burger King says they are “perfectly crispy tots stuffed with melty cheddar cheese, fluffy potatoes, & ranch seasoning, served in an Imperial-themed carton.”

I loved the packaging on this one, and the flavor was more successful than the bacon tots they have had previously. Not that the bacon tots were bad by any stretch, but this combo really works here. While I only ate a few of them, they were a solid showing from the Burger King Kitchens.

Now, next up was the Grogu’s Garlic Chicken Fries. I really did not get anything more than normal Chicken Fries from these, but Burger King says they are “Crispy white meat Chicken Fries seasoned with parmesan and garlic, served in a Grogu-themed carton with garlic dipping sauce on the side to fuel your next adventure.”

What was crazy for me was the “garlic dipping sauce.”

The photo is awful, I know, but let me tell you that I am a person who knows pizza.

Why is that relevant, you may be asking? Because there were two pizza chains that I’ve had experience with since I was a kid. Pizza chains that provide little cups of garlic butter and ranch to those eating in the back rooms of comic shops during three-day gaming weekends. This garlic sauce is a pizza dipping sauce that has the same consistency and flavor as that. So not bad, but 100% blind taste test would never be able to tell the difference.

Everything but the shake itself came in this rad little paper box that reminded me of my childhood. I also got a cool blue collectible cup that has some sparkling silver undertones and features Zeb Orrelios.

Burger King continues to impress with its brand collabs, and I liked this one so much I may end up trying one of the Jr Meals they are doing before the month is up.
