New ‘The Witcher III: Wild Hunt’ Expansion “Songs Of The Past” Scheduled For A Gamescom Appearance

After months of speculation, CD Projekt RED finally confirmed that they’re making a third expansion for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. Entitled “Songs of the Past”, the expansion is being co-developed by Fool’s Theory, the team also working on the upcoming remake of the first CD Projeckt Witcher game.

Interestingly, “Songs of the Past” was originally scheduled to launch in 2026, but was pushed back into 2027 to “allow for the best possible results” — which, honestly, sounds like they just wanted to get out of the way of a Grand Theft Auto VI release. Regardless, “Songs of the Past” looks to give players one last chance to play as Geralt of Rivia before the franchise is given over to Ciri in The Witcher IV.

So far, the only bit of information we have beyond the name is the single promotional image pictured above, which features Geralt brandishing a third sword. The developers have confirmed that the blade Geralt is holding is important to the expansion, but they’re remaining quiet on anything else.

That said, they have confirmed we’ll get more information at Gamescom this year. Presumably, fans can look for a trailer at Opening Night Love on August 25th.
