Exclusive Preview: FairSquare Graphics’ ‘Noir Is The New Black’ Season Two Finale

Following its 2026 Eisner Award nomination for Best Anthology, FairSquare Graphics has provided Comicon with an exclusive look at interior pages from Noir Is the New Black Season 2 #3. The anthology series returns this June for the third and final issue of Season 2, closing out the latest chapter of the boundary-pushing noir anthology with the final installment of writer Joseph P. Illidge and artist Chriscross’ The Winterfields.
“Having an Eisner nomination as a member of Noir Is The New Black team with FairSquare Graphics is an honor I can’t fully describe,” Illidge said of the Eisner nod. “The story Chriscross and I crafted with The Winterfields certainly rests on the shoulders of Will Eisner‘s The Spirit and other groundbreaking crime noir stories in comics, and we’ve definitely put together a climactic chapter that our readers are going to love.”
Since its original launch, Noir Is the New Black has become known for its evolving mix of crime fiction, social commentary, emotional tension, and experimental storytelling. Its aim is to bring together an international roster of Black creators through interconnected noir narratives that continue pushing the boundaries of the anthology format.

A Kickstarter campaign launches June 10th for Noir Is the New Black Season 2 #3. It will feature multiple editions and collected formats expanding the world of the series, including:
- Noir Is the New Black Season 2 #3, featuring the final installments of The Winterfields and Little Rock Files.
- The Winterfields hardcover collection, presented as a 64-page oversized 8×11 hardcover edition
- Little Rock Files trade paperback collection, collecting the complete story in a 100-page softcover edition
Additional stretch goals include collected editions of both anthology seasons, an oversized Art of Noir Is the New Black volume, premium art print sets featuring specialty printing effects, and a deluxe slipcase hardcover collection bringing both seasons together into a single prestige edition.
