‘DC Silver Age Covers And Stories Artist’s Edition’ First Look From Skybound/Act 4 Publishing
by Olly MacNamee
Skybound and Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing have released a first look at DC Silver Age Covers and Stories Artist’s Edition. And this one must have been a real chore, with so many classic covers and art from many decades ago. And, by using only full-coloured scans, not only does each page capture every nuance of the art from ink gradients to blue pencil, but it also captures the ageing and staining of the pages too. Which you don’t get with some of the more contemporary art books.

Featuring an introduction by comics writer and historian Mark Waid, this oversized hardcover collects artwork from DC’s Silver Age of superheroes, including Superman (Action Comics #282, Superman #199), The Flash (The Flash #146), Green Lantern (Green Lantern #1), and more, in a 15″ × 22″ hardcover collection. All drawn by the likes of Carmine Infantino, Gil Kane and Neal Adams in their prime.
“DC Silver Age Covers and Stories Artist’s Edition also includes more than 60 classic covers showcasing legendary creators Joe Kubert, Carmine Infantino, Curt Swan, Nick Cardy, Murphy Anderson, and Gil Kane. Among the highlights are the cover to The Flash #123 featuring the first appearance of Earth-Two, the debut of the Silver Age Hawkman in The Brave and the Bold #34, the first appearance of Adam Strange on the cover of Showcase #17, and the unforgettable Flash vs. Superman race from Superman #199.”
Also featured are artists Ross Andru, Ramona Fradon, Russ Heath, Jack Kirby, Jim Mooney, Mike Sekowsky, and Alex Toth.
DC Silver Age Covers and Stories Artist’s Edition is out in comic book shops on Wednesday, 4th November, 2026, and at booksellers on Tuesday, 1st December, 2026.
