Joe Casey Returns For ‘Ben 10’ #6

by Erik Amaya

After taking issues #4-5 off, Ben 10 co-creator Joe Casey is returning to the Dynamite series.

The company announced Tuesday that Casey will be back to script the sixth issue of the recently-launched comic book. It will kick off “the next phase” of the ongoing tale by Casey and Ben 10 co-creators Steven T. Seagle (who scripted issues #4-5), Duncan Rouleau, and Joe Kelly. Series artist Robert Carey continues on with interior art duties.

“It’s great to be home again!,” Casey said in a statement. “And this time around, Robert Carey and I are kicking things up to a whole other level. We’re introducing a major new villain to the series and raising the dramatic stakes at the same time. Not to mention, we’ve still got more aliens to see in action! To all the loyal Ben 10 fans out there — trust us, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”

As Casey teased, the story continues when “Grandpa Max is forced to put Ben and the Omnitrix to the ultimate test, exploring what the young boy’s mysterious powers can truly encompass.” It does not go well, forcing Ben Tennyson “face-to-face for the very first time with one of his most iconic villains.” Of course the identity of that foe cannot be revealed until readers see it for themselves, although Carey’s design for the antagonist will be teased in the upcoming Creator Files special issue.

To mark the start of the next major story, copies of issues #6 will come bagged with a free poster by Rouleau depicting Ben’s journey so far and some of the adventure that awaits him soon. Additionally, the issue is supported by covers from Carey, Rouleau, Dustin Nguyen, Sebastian Piriz, and Eric Canete. The blind bag program will also offer some special variants for the premium collector. And if this issue happens to be the first for a new or returning Ben 10 fan, the first five issues will be available as a collected trade paperback on the same day.

Ben 10 #6 arrives this November.
