Dynamite To Release ‘Fire And Ice’ Board Game At Retail This November

by Erik Amaya

Dynamite is inviting board game enthusiasts to enter the world of Fire and Ice.

Originally a Kickstarter project, Fire and Ice: Miniatures Adventure Game will be available at retail stores starting this November. In it, players “embody the heroes of Firekeep as they battle the nefarious forces of Icepeak across multiple maps.” Cards, dice, and miniature figures, are used to “reenact the iconic battles from the rotoscoping animated classic. Furthermore, the game incorporates ‘Rules-Lite’ mechanics, allowing adventurous players to either pursue their journey further or develop their own stories through roleplay.” Naturally enough, the miniatures include depictions of Darkwolf, Teegra, and Larn in addition to “six character cards, 54 event cards, 12 activity cards, six 10-sided dice adorned with fire and ice motifs, over 200 token markers, and the four regional game boards.” All of which is directly inspired by the Ralph Bakshi animated film designed by Frank Frazetta and scripted by Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway.

“My grandpa introduced me to his film, Fire and Ice, when I was in grade school,” Sara Frazetta said in a statement. “Watching movies together, especially Fire and Ice, bonded our relationship. We felt the intensity of the scenes together. We were transported into the world he created. It was magical. Fire and Ice has remained in my top favorite films of all time and to be able to reignite the property with the Bakshi family and Dynamite is incredibly exciting!”

“Bakshi Productions is excited to work with the Frazetta Girls and Dynamite Comics to create new Fire & Ice media,” Eddie Bakshi added. “It is an honor to again explore the fantastic world that Frank Frazetta and Ralph Bakshi created. I know that Bakshi fans have been waiting a long time for more Fire & Ice material, and that’s what we plan to give them.”
