Image Comics Announce A Second Chance To Grab ‘Ice Cream Man: The Mortal Coil Shuffle’

Last year Image Comics published one of its most creative and innovative comics to date with Ice Cream Man: The Mortal Coil Shuffle, which sold out. And now, a year later, they’ve announced a second printing of the one-shot from co-creators W. Maxwell Prince, Martín Morazzo, and Chris O’Halloran.

If you remember, this comic was published as a custom-designed deck of 55 cards in October 2025, so you can understand why it’s taken Image a year to announce and organise a second printing. Here’s Prince with a more elaborate explanation:

“The first deck was such a success that some die-hard Ice Cream Man readers never got a chance to experience this special story. So we’re thrilled to bring The Mortal Coil Shuffle back — with a beautiful new design that speaks to comic history … while simultaneously honoring the singular fantasy aesthetic of the first printing. Like This Is Lorelei says, ‘I know it’s only cards, but love, I feel your heart in spades; while you were dancing in the club, I gave my diamonds all away.'”And here’s more on the entire concept and execution:

“Some cards tell part of the story; other cards cast inscrutable spells on its unwitting characters; some cards “play” and push the narrative in unexpected directions. Tarot cards, credit cards, flash cards … all 55 come together to tell a story about cards, through cards. It’s a kind of close-up magic trick … that might leave fans a little flush of heart.
