Joe Bob Briggs And Darcy The Mail Girl Return In Dynamite’s ‘MonsterVision’

While The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs may have ended, the horror-hound and Darcy the Mail Girl aren’t done yet.
On Thursday, Dynamite announced a new series, MonsterVision, featuring the pair of horror hosts from writer David Avallone and artist Edu Menna. The duo will chart a “deep-fried, monster-hunting adventure filled with B-movie horror, endless Easter eggs, and a game-changing revelation that will turn their classic dynamic on its head.” The road trip will also include “parodies of classic horror films and a celebration of the life and career of Joe Bob Briggs and his own special mythos.”
“Joe Bob looks like he’d be perfectly comfortable starring in a western: he’s square-jawed, handsome and tall, but he channels that into something subversive,” Avallone said in a statement. “That’s something I can easily understand and get into.”
Darcy added, “I’m ecstatic to be working with Dynamite! … I’ve been a genuine fan of theirs for decades, so having the opportunity to create something with a company whose work I truly love feels incredibly special.”
Horror movie-inspired covers supporting the debut issue come via Dave Acosta, Kewber Baal, and Robert Hack. Darcy also contributes a photo cover while blind bags with the “rarest exclusive variations ” will also be available. Alternatively, fans of Joe Bob and Darcy can seek out a special signed version of Acosta’s cover.
MonsterVision #1 arrives this December.
