Miracleman Joins The Team In November’s ‘Avengers’ #1

The reveal was the biggest thing about last week’s comics. Now, Marvel Comics has confirmed David Colton — the new hero wearing the legacy mantle of Miracleman — is joining Earth’s mightiest heroes in November’s Avengers relaunch.
At the end of last week’s Avengers: Armageddon #4, Colton was injured as the Red Hulk’s new Russian enhancements transformed him into a human nuke. But Colton had a voice whispering in his ear, telling him to utter the word that would change everything.
Kimota.
And with that, a legacy that Marvel has been hinting would change Earth-616 arrived.
In November’s Avengers #1, writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto chart a new course for the Avengers. Mistrust of superheroes is at all all-time high, and Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Wolverine, Power Man and Spider-Man band together to be Earth’s newest defenders, and Colton is their first recruit. And their first threat? A demonic invasion of the planet.
Along with these new details, Marvel revealed a new line-up of covers, both open order and True Believer blind bags, featuring this new team and Miracleman from superstars like Skottie Young, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Jim Cheung, Alan Davis, Mark Spears, and Juan Julio Tedesco, as well as the full, uncensored covers from Checchetto and Kaare Andrews.
We’re definitely at least a little bit skeptical about the Miracleman reveal — cautiously optimistic at best. Zdarsky’s Captain America, Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon and Avengers: Armageddon have all been good. Regardless, the decision to make Colton Miracleman is confusing at best and potentially disastrous at worst though. We’ll have to see how it plays out.
