‘Clayface’ Confronts Some Complications From His Procedure In Final Trailer

Actor Matt Hagen’s (Tom Rhys Harries) meteoric rise from Gotham City to Hollywood is complicated when he is disfigured by a crime boss. A “cutting-edge treatment” seemingly restores his marketable face, but as you’ll see in the trailer above, it comes with some … complications. And as his grip on reality becomes as malleable as his face, revenge becomes his mission.
Directed by James Watkins, with a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, Clayface is an interesting proposition for the emerging DC Cinematic Universe. It is unapologetically a horror movie, but features a lead DC Comics character not typically associated with horror. Sure, Clayface is a horrific character in nearly all of his manifestations, but as a Batman villain, he tends towards superhero tropes. But maybe that made him the perfect choice for this tone instead of characters like Swamp Thing or John Constantine. It remains to be seen, though, if the decision will work.
Nonetheless, we expect horror fans will at least give Clayface a try when it arrives in theaters on October 23rd.
