‘Icons Of The Realm’ Sunsetting As ‘D&D’ HeroClix Comes To The Table? — “Thay” It Ain’t So!
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
Check this out…
My pals at WizKids were kind enough to stock me up on a slew of Dungeons & Dragons HeroClix minis, and they are all really rad so far. Being a huge fan of the Red Wizards of Thay, I decided to crack open the Dungeons & Dragons HeroClix 400: Red Wizards of Thay set first.
This set not only can be fielded on the gaming table as a 300-or-400-point team, but with the recent release of D&D Arcane Unleashed and the rad new adventure D&D Arcane Unleashed: Deadfall, these Clix can serve as both HeroClix minis and D&D minis for your TTRPG table.
What I really love about bridging the gap between D&D and HeroClix is that it creates an opportunity for conversations from both sides to invite people who may be curious about the other game to come to the table and learn to play something new, or at the very least give it a try.
Until next time, I don’t know if the D&D Icons of the Realms sets are going to get sunset at any point soon, as I’ve heard very little about what is coming from that line since early in the year … but the ability to have minis that can serve two games like these D&D HeroClix can at the table is very exciting to me. If anyone can make something happen in this space and adapt to tariffs or limited supplies of materials to make toys or anything else under the Sun, it’s the talented team over at WizKids.
